About

Established in 1985, the STOP AIDS project works to prevent HIV transmission among all gay and bisexual men in San Francisco through multicultural, community-based organizing.

Are You Iffy? is a three-phase social marketing campaign that works at exploring the complicated identity of being HIV-negative. Over the past decade, MSM have been creating their own strategies in order to prevent HIV transmission. One of these involves partnering with men of the same status, also known as “serosorting” or “smartersorting.” For HIV-positive men, this appears to be a foolproof method of preventing HIV (but not STD) transmission. This is not true for many HIV-negative men, where we have to deal with the window period and acute infection. Are You Iffy is a response to this, and helps people assess their own status, tell that status to their partners, and get tested. (Link to www.areyouiffy.org)
